NEW UN-STEAMED SLIP
(1.) Lumpy Slip
Hanging here is a new slip. See how unevenly it hangs? This will not flatter you. Let's lift its cover to see the fluffy layers underneath.
(2.) Frumpy Fluff
Here is the reason for the lop-sided slip. These layers of fluff are made of nylon netting (tulle) and after being crammed into its little package and stored for a time, it will not straighten out again without help. This tulle is wadded up in two major places, causing the unevenness. Now, scroll down and look at this slip after steaming.

(3.) Fluffy Netting
Heating the tulle with steam allows the nylon to regain its original shape. Why it holds the clumps from storage and won't straighten out till it's heated I don't know, but look at the nice even fluff. Let's pull the cover back down, now. . .
 What a difference!
(4.) Fluffy Slip
Now that we've steamed it, this slip will provide a nice even foundation on which to build. And it all depends on its having been steamed!
This is why I don't want you to forego steaming your slip.
